conceptual.
When we first started the group project in class I didn't understand it. But after I watched my classmates take their turn, I quickly began to understand it. After we were finished the piece that we had created had continuous lines. The project wasn't that exciting to me. I didn't understand the point of it.

performances.
When we first started the activities, I thought they would all be stupid. But watching others do them and participating in them was a lot more fun then I thought it was going to be. I still don't quite understand how it's considered art but, I did enjoy it. I participated in two and had mine acted out.

futurists.
Futurism is an artistic movement originating in Italy around 1910. The aim of this movement was to express the energetic, dynamic, and violent quality of contemporary life. This was especially shown as embodied in the motion and force of modern machinery. Today futurists are considered to be authors, consultants, organizational leaders and anyone else that engages in interdisciplinary and systems thinking.

activity.
Before I was told what the activity was going to be I thought that it was going to be something that required acting. When I was told what the activity was I didn't quite understand what we had to do. The activity "Playing with behaviors of everyday life" was fun in a way because I enjoy making funny faces at other people. On the other hand I didn't like the activity. I thought that it was somewhat pointless. I still don't understand what the point of the activity was. The only thing I got out of it was that we got to imitate another persons face as if we were children again.

iconography.
This logo is from the television nextwork of NBC. The logo is supposed to be a peacock. In earlier years the logo was more elaborate and looked just like a peacock. As the years went on the logo became much simpiliar. It currently is 6 shapes of color and a small indent in the the purple shape which is the beak of the peacock.
A sign is something that gives someone information, such as street signs and signs outside of buildings. A symbol is something that represents something by association, resemblance, or convention. A logo is a graphic representation of a company. An icon can be something that represents an important religious person, or it can be an image.

large glass.
The first thing I looked at in Marcel Duchamp's piece The Bride the large cloud shaped object on the very top of the window. The rest of the piece didn't seem to really look like anything to me. The bottom did look something like a factory but it was just shapes to me.
After studying The Bride, I still don't quite understand it. The concept of the piece doesn't make that much sense to me, even after reading the notes on it. I do not think I will really ever fully understand this piece. I still don't see how the sexual concept of this is represented. In the notes about The Bride, it says that the cracks in the piece were caused by the piece being dropped during installation. I do feel that the cracks help with the composition of the piece. The cracks help move your eye from the top right hand corner to the bottom left hand corner of the top half of the piece and then from the top left hand corner of the bottom half of the piece to the bottom right hand corner. This allows for your eye to move over the entire piece and take more of it in.

pattern.
Everything has a pattern. Pattern is most commonly found in floor tiles, wall coverings, fabric prints and general ornaments. Islamic architecture has all of these elements to show pattern. They use several different patterns in their designs for their buildings. Most of their buildings are symmetrical as well. The patterns usually have bright colors and are usually made up from geometrical shapes. The patterns in Islamic architecture use repetition. I do not however like the Islamic style. I do find it somewhat pleasing the eye but it is not something I would choose to look at on my own.

value.
At first I didn't think I would be able to make the scale with correct intervals but, shortly after I started I realized it wasn't as hard as I thought it was.
When I first started working on the composition in class I couldn't think of
an idea. It took me until the other night to come up with this idea.
However, I did the shading as I went. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I didn't think I would be able to get the darks and lights to be different.

string.
Before we started the string project I thought it would be a stupid idea. After we got started and things started getting all tied up, I really enjoyed it. When I was moving around the room I didn't really think about what I was doing until toward the end. I was very surprised about how all of the string looked connected. I probably would do it differently if I had the opportunity.

line and shape.
Which of the images a, b, c, or d are lines?
All of these images can be considered lines. However, I feel that images a and b are lines.
Which of the images a, b, c, or d are shapes?
Again all of these images can be considered shapes because of the thickness of the images.
What makes a line?
I believe that a line is something that either does not end or ends but does not connect to another line.
What makes a shape?
I think a shape is something that is made up of several lines that connect at points to for angles. A shape also does not have any lose ends. A shape can also be solid or have empty space as long as all of the lines connect.

analyze.
In this piece of artwork, there are numerous black rectangles of various sizes and seven colored rectangles as well. A large portion of this work of art is covered in smaller black rectangles toward the top of the piece. Most of the rectangles are organized in columns and rows. The rectangles look as if they do not have 90 degree angles. The colored rectangles are colored turquoise, periwinkle, cranberry, olive, orange, navy blue, and pink. These colored rectangles look as if they have 90 degree angles.
I think the top of this piece represents order and uniformity. As you move down the piece the rectangles become more individual, with some chaos and then get most unique with the colors at the bottom. The colors bring a sense of happiness to the piece.
This piece of artwork has a strong composition. The smaller rectangles at the top of the piece bring the eye to the bottom of the piece. The placement of the rectangles’ sizes creates a bottom heavy but overall symmetrically balanced composition. The rectangles on the far left side of this piece do not fall into the normal grid like the others’; this helps draw the eye back to the rest of the piece after being pulled to the colored rectangles. I like this piece because the spaces between the rectangles trick your eyes into believing that the lines on the rectangles are not straight.
